2D Animation, collage art, stop-motion animation

Tracks (2025) is a collaborative looping animated short. It features a deer that goes through the cycles of time, death, and rebirth. I created the background, using recycled paper scraps to make a new piece of homemade paper. I also created the collages that make up the setting of the 2D animated deer. I used old vintage magazines to create natural elements such as trees, sky, rocky ground, and mountain landscapes that set the environment for the deer to exist in. I created the collages by hand, then scanned them in. Sophie Caswell edited the animation seamlessly. Samaya Young-Stewart created a 3D stop-motion set and paper puppet of the deer, which we incorporated as a metaphor of the deer’s death in the animation. Clover Pinskton created the 2D animated portion of the deer. Nawal Elhajoui made the hauntingly beautiful vocal track that runs throughout the whole animation. The piece was featured in the 2025 New Media Student Exhibition.
