Collaborative mixed-media installation

[In Progress]

Plugged In (2025) is a collaborative interactive installation piece exploring the intimate relationship between masochism and technology, particularly with creatives in the digital space. I sculpted the ceramic face of the puppet, and sourced the TV that is the set for the piece, as well as some of the interior set elements. I created the interactive experience by using Max 9 and microcomputing bits to program a projector to cycle between three different face animations using a TV remote. When the user hits any button on the remote, the animation projected onto the face of the puppet in the TV is changed. I also created the name for the puppet, “.EXE”, and the ‘logo’ on the exterior of the TV. Sophie Caswell designed and created the puppet and the three animated faces projected onto the puppet’s mask. Samaya Young-Stewart created the interior set design of the TV, which transforms the piece into an eerie miniature environment for the puppet.

The puppet is fully suspended in bondage with electrical cords in the interior of the TV, symbolizing .EXE’s eagerness to surrender to the technological world no matter the cost.

Headwaters Website, 2025. First website for UNCA’s student art + literature magazine.

[In Progress]

Custom responsive and interactive website for Headwaters, UNCA’s art and literature magazine. This is a custom website build using wix, html, and css. I am building the magazine’s first website to feature the current issue of the magazine, as well as an ‘archive’ page for the hundreds of past Headwaters editions, and a space for students to have their digital art and music featured. The website will also have a submissions page and an organized data bank of all submissions. (Ongoing project).

Recipes for non-consumption, 2023-2025.

Interactive website, mixed media, collage.

Recipes for non-consumption was born in my journal, on index cards, and crumpled sticky notes. It’s my most cherished hand-coded site, and a project that I will continue to add to as I grow as an artist/programmer/person. The bones formed when I began experimenting with creating websites, specifically interactive sites with a non-linear user experience. It’s an interactive digital recipe box, but the recipes are inedible; they are emotions, experiences, and patterns instead. Each recipe page contains a recipe card surrounded by an arranged group of interactive and movable digital collage pieces. Each page is unique, each recipe is written by me, and inspired by everyone I love. The site is made for the user to get lost in it, but they can always choose to return to the start and close the recipe box. When the box is clicked, an audio plays that I mixed- it is Adrienne Lenker’s “chimes” with blue whale sounds overlaid. It’s quite relaxing. The page is also responsive - there are hidden pages that the user can find if they try shrinking the window horizontally. Different pathways appear depending on the screen size. There are 10 recipes and more than 20 pages of mixed-media art, video art, motion graphics, illustration, photography, animation, digital collage, responsive design, and sound design. Recipes for non-consumption was in the 2025 UNCA New Media Student Exhibition, and won the award for Best in Category - Interactive media.
